Thoughtful Leadership started with the observation that 'command and control' leadership is often less effective, yet remains the most popular image of leadership. Our work has demonstrated the need to think about leadership as a range of behaviors that may be applied to each particular situation. The most effective leaders seem to be able to intuitively choose from a range of leadership behaviors that get the best out of themselves and others. They subtly blend these behaviors into a potent mix that often seems hard to fully identify, yet those around them know that they have leadership qualities.

It has taken a decade of practice and research to identify these effective leadership behaviors and combine them into the Thoughtful Leadership model. The model comprises two main elements; the seven Thoughtful Leadership personalities, and the Thoughtful Leadership process, which describes how the seven types can used most effectively.
